6-19 Tampa Bay Rays at Houston Astros

Tuesday night baseball fans will be in for a real treat when Blake Snell of the Tampa Bay Rays faces off with Justin Verlander of the Houston Astros. We all know of Verlander and his massive amounts of success.

Verlander is a 6-time all-star, and a former MVP and Cy Young. He is coming off of a World Series win and somehow is having his best season to date. He has a 1.16 ERA with a 10.76 K% and 1.79 BB%. Those are godly numbers. He gets to face a Rays lineup that does not bring much heat to the table.

However, he faces an ace across the field in Blake Snell. Snell is not prized like Verlander in name recognition, but at age 25 he is in the midst of a breakout season. He comes in with a 2.58 ERA and has a slightly lower xFip than Verlander. Verlander is having a much better season, but to see Snell even in comparison to Verlander in one category shows what kind of season Snell is having.

These are two great pitchers going head to head with each other in what should be a low scoring pitchers duel. Look for a first five innings under bet in this game.

6-20 Tampa Bay Rays at Houston Astros

We go right back to Houston for the second game of our weekly preview. This should be a good chance to jump on the home Astros in a plus matchup, coming off of a tight game the night before.

The fact of the matter is that after facing off with Blake Snell, Nathan Eovaldi is going to look like he is serving up home runs. Eovaldi is coming back from injury and has just four starts this season. He has face pine tar allegations and his last three starts have featured 12 runs allowed. The Astros have a great lineup, and Eovaldi is in a poor spot situationally.

Eovaldi squares up with Charlie Morton who is having a magical season to date. He has a 2.94 ERA and faces a Rays lineup that should only make that number shrink. Morton does a great job of inviting ground balls, and the Rays are a team that is highly prone to ground ball outs. What has made Morton excellent this season, is his increase in strikeouts though? If he can continue to K batters, he is going to win matchups against almost any team.

It is a plus pitching matchup against a down team. The Astros will not have a great price, but given the spot and the advantages, it is a solid investment.

6-21 World Cup: Australia vs Denmark

A Group C matchup in the World Cup has Denmark sitting as a -116 favorite over Australia. A draw is +250 and Australia is +365. Denmark leads the historical matchup between the two 2-1 and has the better team on paper.

Denmark comes in off of a win where goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel proved his worth. An own goal saw Australia as losers to the French in their first match of the World Cup.

Australia played better in their first match than many expected. Still, walking away with the loss is going to feel pain. The question is where they can get back up and respond against a Denmark team that may be hitting their stride defensively.

Coming off that crucial win and with momentum on their side, Denmark is the safe pick as the favorite. It could be a low scoring, defensive game, but look for Denmark to advance.
